L20000 Pipetran Version IV – Program for the Simulation of Gas Pipeline Network Dynamics – Manual
Abstract
Every pipeline network is composed of combinations of some or all of the basic elements: pipeline segment; junction; compressor station; pressure regulator; storage field; flow boundary node; and pressure boundary node. While each element can affect the transient behavior of a pipeline network, the response of the system is quite different in each case. It is helpful to distinguish between these effects, and to characterize each element according to its ability to alter the dynamic response of a pipeline network.
A mathematical research program was conducted to study transient flow in gas transmission networks. The objective of the project was the development of mathematical models, computer techniques and computer programs to simulate the unsteady-state behavior of large gas pipeline networks.
