Preparations for REX 2027 are well underway, and the effort behind the program reflects the strength of the PRCI community. Here is a look at the work taking shape ahead of March.
A Program Built by the Community
Eighty research abstracts have been submitted for REX 2027. These are now under review as the top candidates for presentation are identified. Guiding that process are 68 volunteers, each helping ensure every abstract receives at least three independent reviews. It is a rigorous, member-driven approach that keeps the quality of the technical program high.
The presentations will span every PRCI technical committee, along with the Emerging Fuels Institute, with a strong focus on data analytics and AI tools. These topics reflect where the industry is heading and where applied research can deliver the greatest value.
New for 2027
This year introduces a dedicated roadmap track. Each technical committee will present its research roadmap for 2027 and beyond. The Emerging Fuels Institute will share its direction as well, followed by the Research Steering Committee’s outlook on PRCI research overall. Together, these sessions offer a clear view of the priorities shaping the years ahead.
At least two panel sessions are planned:
- PRCI’s Data Institute: its work and related use-cases
- Reducing Outside Force Damage on Pipelines
REX 2027 also opens a milestone year, marking the launch of PRCI’s 75th anniversary celebration of seven and a half decades of advancing the safety, reliability, and sustainability of energy pipeline infrastructure.
Help Shape the Conversation
The panel sessions are strongest when they reflect the interests and expertise of the people in the room. If you have specific topics you would like to see discussed, or if you would like to participate on one of the panels, your input is welcome. Share your comments and interests by emailing [email protected]. This is the ideal moment to help direct where these conversations go.
