PRCI Selects First Chief Operating Officer

Arlington, VA – (March 14, 2007) – Pipeline Research Council International, Inc. (PRCI) has selected Eric Thomas as its first Chief Operating Officer to meet the needs of its growing membership and increasing level of energy pipeline research. Mr. Thomas, who has over 28 years of experience in all facets of pipeline engineering, will assume the position on May 1 and will be responsible for the conduct of PRCI’s technical program and all internal operations that support the program.

Thomas will report to PRCI President, George W. Tenley, Jr. His chief activities will include identifying and deploying the resources necessary to execute PRCI’s primary mission to formulate, implement, and deliver to the members and the wider industry research-based solutions to the industry’s most important integrity and reliability challenges.

“In naming Eric Thomas as PRCI’s Chief Operating Officer we are even better positioned to meet the challenges facing the energy pipeline business through a research program that addresses the industry’s core system safety, environmental, and reliability needs,” said Lee M. Stewart, Senior Vice President of Southern California Gas, PRCI’s Chairman. “His pipeline operations experience coupled with strong leadership and management skills, provide PRCI with a strengthened capacity to provide solutions to the needs of a growing and diverse membership in a constantly changing industry.”

Thomas comes to PRCI from his position as Director of Engineering for Southern Natural Gas Company, where he has spent 20 years in increasingly responsible posts. He also currently represents Southern Natural Gas as a PRCI Board member and served as Chairman of PRCI from 1991 - 1994.
