PHMSA Accepts Proposal for PRCI Ethanol Project

SCC-4-5 Determine New Design and Construction Techniques for Transportation of Ethanol and Ethanol/Gasoline Blends in New Pipelines

PRCI submitted a proposal into PHMSA solicitation DTPH56-09-BAA-000001 that has been accepted as a project for government funding. The overall project value is estimated at approximately $1M that will be shared equally between PHMSA and PRCI. The PRCI contribution reflects about $320K of cash, $70K of member in-kind technical oversight and $100K of line pipe to be furnished by Colonial Pipeline Company. Electricore is the prime PHMSA contractor and the technical research will be provided by Honeywell Process Solutions as the principal investigator, subcontractor Edison Welding Institute providing welding and metallurgy analysis and subcontractor Dr. Russell D. Kane providing consulting services. Contract negotiations are currently underway between PHMSA, Electricore and Honeywell and are anticipated to be complete in July-August 2009. The project start date is estimated as September 1, 2009 and a kick off meeting with PHMSA will be scheduled shortly thereafter. The project is estimated to be complete in two years.
